WSJT is the name of a computer program.  It stands for ''Weak Signal communication, by K1JT.''  The program currently supports four principal modes:
FSK441
, designed to support communication using very brief “pings” from meteor trails in the ionosphere;
JT6M, also for meteor scatter, but especially optimized for the 6-meter band;
JT65, ideal for extremely weak but slowly varying signals such as those found on troposcatter and Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) paths; and the
EME Echo mode for detecting and measuring your own echoes from the moon.  The program also offers a Measure mode for testing Sun noise and the like, and an EME Calculator to help you estimate the strength of your own and other stations’ echoes from the moon.  If you have a desire to study the internal workings of WSJT and perhaps contribute to its development, a package of the critical source code is now available.
WSPR (pronounced "whisper") stands for "Weak Signal Propagation Reporter."  This program  implements transmitting and receiving for a digital soundcard mode usable with extremely wesk signals.

You will need to know something about how the new decoder works in order to make the best use of it, please read [updates.htm]. A step-by-step Tutorial on the use of WSJT 5.9.0 in its FSK441, JT6M, and JT65 modes is now available here.
Is JT65 really the right choice for a valid QSO's on EME? Read what DJ5HG and SM2CEW wrote about the "deep search mode"[which is implemented in WSJT] and what this mode really does.

WSJT597.EXE Download this file to install the version 5.9.7  If you already have WSJT 3.x or 4.x installed, I suggest that you use a new installation directory. The default new directory is C:\Program Files\WSJT6.

Installation of WSJT for Linux or FreeBSD must presently be done from the source code, which can be downloaded from http://developer.berlios.de/projects/wsjt/. These versions are intended mainly for programmers who are knowledgeable about their operating systems and have at least passing familiarity with Python, C, and Fortran.

Who is Joe Taylor, K1JT?

Joe is 1993 Nobel Laureate in Physics for the discovery of a new type of pulsar, a discovery that has opened up new possibilities for the study of gravitation.

See The Princeton Pulsar Group which is part of the Gravity Group in the
Department of Physics at Princeton University. They are particularly interested in studies of radio pulsars, with active research efforts aimed at high precision timing, studies of the pulsar emission mechanism, and, of course, the continuing search for new pulsars.
See also Autobiography of J. H. Taylor at the Nobel e-Museum.

Installation and post-installation help: If you have problems after following the installation or upgrading instructions, your best sources of help will probably be other users, perhaps via the HSMS, WSVHF, or METEOR-SCATTER reflectors and of course  the WSJT/JT44 Forum and BBS.
